Austrian beach volleyball player Oliver Stamm partnered Nik Berger at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and unfortunately lost 16-14 in the eighth finals to the Brazilians Zé Marco and Ricardo. Stamm’s father Walter was a professional football (soccer) player in Austria.
Oliver Stamm won 75 international caps with the Austrian indoor national team. In 1993, he became the first beach volleyball player in Austria when he and some compatriots established the sport in Austria.
After retiring from beach volleyball, Stamm hosted the TV quiz show “The Chair – Take a Seat in Hell” in Cologne for the Austrian private broadcaster ATV. He then founded a sports management agency (Ecosports Consulting) with Austrian Olympian Michael Buchleitner. Stamm returned to television in 2008, participating in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars, reaching the third round. Since his playing days, he has supported Right to Play and served as its Austrian ambassador.
