Ryan Millar was a volleyball player who competed at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympic Games, winning a gold medal at Beijing in 2008. Millar played in college at Brigham Young University, graduating in 2001, where he was a First Team All-American three times as a middle blocker. He was on the US National Team from 1998-2009, winning titles at the NORCECA Championships in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and the America’s Cup in 2007.
Millar also played professionally in Europe. He was in Italy from 2001-08 with Volley Forlì, Gabeca Montichiari, Itas Diatec Trentino, and Sparkling Milano. He played in Turkey from 2008-10 with İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi, then in Poland with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in 2010-11, and finally in Russia in 2011-12 with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk.
While playing Millar also coached volleyball, starting as an assistant at BYU, and then being elevated to co-head coach in August 2006.
