Biography

Bernice Orwig was a water polo goalkeeper who helped the USA to a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Orwig played in college for the University of Southern California (USC), leading them to the 1999 NCAA title. Orwig won the Peter J. Cutino Award in 1999 as the top female college water polo played in the USA.

Orwig won a silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games and competed at the 2001 World Aquatics Championships. In 2005 she retired as a player and became a coach, starting as an assistant at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. She also started coaching the USA Junior National Team in 2005. She later coached at U Cal Berkeley, the University of Michigan, and USC.
