Biography

Coralie Simmons played water polo and won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She also won silvers at the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2001 World Championships.

Simmons played in college at UCLA, and was twice named National Player of the Year, leading the Bruins to the 2001 NCAA Championship. In that year she was given the Peter J. Cutino Award as the top American collegiate female water polo player. Simmons graduated with a degree in geography and environmental studies and was inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012.

From 2001-05 Simmons played in Greece, winning three Greek Championships and one Greek Cup. In 2005 she became an assistant coach at the University of Hawai’i and took the same position the next year at UCLA. She was then named the head coach at D-2 Sonoma State University and led that team for nine years, twice being named D-2 Coach of the Year.

Simmons became the head coach at U Cal Berkeley in 2015. She has also been involved with the USA Water Polo national programs, serving as an assistant for the women’s team at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships. She has been a two-time head coach of the US Women’s Junior National Team, leading them to a 2015 World Championship.
