Biography

Jörg Mayr was an ice hockey defender who competed at three Winter Olympics with the German teams in 1992 at Albertville, 1994 at Lillehammer, and 2002 at Salt Lake City. In total, he won 123 international caps, scored six goals, and played in five World Championships in 1992-94, 1999 and 2001. He was inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. Mayr also won the Spengler Cup in 1999 with Kölner Haie.

Domestically, Mayr played with EV Füssen (until 1989) and Kölner Haie (1989-2002), helping them to win the German Championship in 1995 and 2002. He later became a lawyer, and was also a member of the disciplinary committee of the German Ice Hockey League and the Justice Board of the Champions Hockey League (CHL).
