Biography

Born in the Dutch East Indies in 1873, Hubert Menten began his sporting career playing football for HFC in Haarlem. Between 1887 and 1894 Menten was part of the team that won the Dutch football championship on three occasions. When he was in his 50s he was selected to compete in the bobsleigh at the 1928 St. Moritz Olympics. Menten was the brakeman in the five-man sled that finished in 12th.
