Biography

Sigurd Moen’s best speed skating performance came in 1925, when he swept the Norwegian Championships by winning all four distances. As of 2009, he is the last athlete to have achieved this feat. He had won his only international medal a year earlier, when he placed third in the 1500 m. Moen was unlucky in allround competitions, finishing fourth on four occasions: in the 1925 and 1926 World Championships and the 1924 and 1927 European Championships. Moen retired after the 1928 season, and in 1934 became the first honorary member of his club, Drammens SK.

Personal Bests: 500 – 45.7 (1928); 1500 – 2:23.8 (1924); 5000 – 8:38.1 (1924); 10000 – 17:42.7 (1924).
