Biography

André Moillen practiced many winter sports. Together with his cousin Jean Moillen he won a silver medal at the first four-man bob World Championships in 1930, two years after their Olympic appearance. Both came from the resort of Les Diablerets, which is part of the municipality of Ormont-Dessus in the Vaud canton. They also played for the Les Diablerets ice hockey team and were excellent skiiers. André was also a skating and ski instructor and worked as a journalist. He later ran the guest-house Les Lilas, and was also president of the local choir, which was conducted by Jean. Both died in a fatal car crash on the way to Vevey, when their car crashed at night into an unlit lorry.
