Biography

The 1928 Winter Olympics was Willy Möhwald’s first major international appearance. Two years later, he placed 30th in Nordic combined at the Worlds, but may have been also a member of the Czechoslovakian military ski patrol team, which finished a surprise third. He then placed 18th at both the 1931 World Championships in Oberhof and Innsbruck in 1933. In that same year, Möhwald acquired a license for a ski school in Špindlerův Mlýn (Spindlermühle) and concurrently organized a mountain rescue team.
