At the Biathlon World Championships the relay race did not hold official status until 1966. At the inaugural championships in 1958 Sture Ohlin was part of the Swedish team that won the first unofficial relay title with victory in the 20 km event. Ohlin competed at the next edition in 1959, this time winning a team silver in the relay. At the 1966 and 1967 championships, with the relay race finally having official status, he was part of the Swedish team that won bronze. Ohlin competed in the 20 kilometres biathlon race at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics where he finished in 12th place.
