Robert Reid won the 1924 US 18 km cross-country championship, earning the Gale Cotton Burton Memorial Trophy. He lived in Berlin, New Hampshire at the time of his Olympic participation but later moved to upstate New York. In Shoreham, New York, the Robert E. Reid, Sr. Recreation Center is named in his honor on Route 25A.
