Biography

Cross-country skier Josef Schneider represented West Germany at the 1980 Lake Placid and 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. He finished 29th over 50 km in 1980 as his best Olympic result. Domestically, he won 19 West German national titles. After his retirement Schneider founded his own skiing and snowboard school in 1992 at Geißkopf, and also formed an agency for the organization of biathlon competitions, such as the World Cups at Ruhpolding. He later became a sports administrator in his region.
