Biography

Herbert Schwarz was a West German speed skater who participated in three consecutive Winter Games from 1972-80. His best results were two 12th places over 1,500 metres, at Innsbruck in 1976 and Lake Placid in 1980. Schwarz won West German titles in 1972-73 and 1975-77. He trained as a painter and varnisher, and later specialized in church paintings.

Personal Bests: 500 – 38.80 (1978); 1000 – 1:17.45 (1980); 1500 – 1:57.39 (1978); 5000 – 7:23.84 (1977); 10000 – 15:38.96 (1978).
