Hilary Skarżyński was a Polish ice hockey player who represented several teams during the 1940s and 1950s. Skarżyński had his best performances with Górnik Katowice, where he was the league’s top scorer in 1956 and won the Polish title in 1958. In 1948 he made his first of three appearances at the Olympics, playing in six matches and scoring five goals at the St. Moritz Games. Four years later he played in eight matches at the Oslo Olympics and scored a goal in Poland’s 4–2 win against Finland. Skarżyński competed at his third and final Olympics at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Games. Sadly, Skarżyński was killed in a car accident in Miami Beach, Florida in September 1987.
