Biography

Jan Thorstensen had his breakthrough in the 1956 season when he was selected for the Norwegian Alpine team for the Cortina Olympics, where he competed in slalom and giant slalom. His only major victory came later in 1956 when he won the giant slalom in the Holmenkollen Kandahar competition. He was never able to win a national title. Thorstensen was from Oslo and represented the club Ready.
