Peter Torrens was third in the 1951 Junior Kandahar Race at Murren, Switzerland when just 16-years-of-age. He attended Millfield School between 1947-52 and, when he competed in the 1956 Winter Olympics at Cortina, he became the first of many Old Millfieldians to take part in the Olympic Games. Unfortunately for Torrens, he missed a gate during his run in the slalom and was disqualified.
After finishing his schooling, Torrens became a Devon farmer and in 1961 was runner-up in the West of England sheep dog trials. Torrens’ sister Margaret was also an alpine skier.
