Biography

East German speed skater Heinz Wolfram from Chemnitz competed at the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics, placing 36th in the 5,000 metres and 29th in the 10,000 metres. In 1953 he won the East German All-Around Championships, and was runner-up in 1957 and 1958. In 1957 he narrowly missed the podium in the 5,000 metres at the Worlds. By profession, Wolfram was a fitter at Wismut in Chemnitz. After his retirement he became a full-time coach in Crimmitschau. His son Jürgen also became a speed skater.

Personal Bests: 500 - 44.5 (1959); 1500 - 2.22.1 (1959); 5000 - 8.26.6 (1957); 10000 - 18.18.2 (1959).
