Biography

West German flatwater canoeist Hartmut Faust finished seventh in the C-1 500 at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. At Seoul in 1988 he competed together with his brother Wolfram and placed fifth in the C-2 1,000, while at 500 metres they failed to reach the final. In the C-2 1,000 they won a bronze medal at the 1986 Flatwater World Championships.

From 1985-90 Hartmut and his brother won national titles in the C-2 500 and also the C-2 1,000. In 1989 Hartmut Faust joined another partner with non-Olympian Thomas Faulstich in the C-2 1,000. Hartmut Faust later owned a piano producing company in Wuppertal.
