Biography

Becky Sundstrom was a speed skater who competed at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. Sundstrom’s sister, Shana Sundstrom, also was a speed skater on the US team at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games. A junior star, Becky started out in short-track but then competed in long-track at the World Junior All-Around from 1992-95, and won the title in 1995. She never reached that level in senior competition, but competed through 2003 on the World Cup circuit, mostly in sprint events. She had three podiums in World Cup races, one silver and two bronzes, all at 1,000 metres.

Sundstrom later married US speedskater Nick Thometz. They settled in Vancouver, Washington, where they both coached speed skating at the Mountain View Ice Arena.
