Biography

Austrian snowboarder Martin Freinademetz was a two-time World Champion, three-time European Champion, and a nine-time Austrian Champion. At the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics he placed seventh in the giant slalom event but was later excluded from the Games by the IOC because he had caused a drunken disturbance in his hotel the night of his appearance.

Freinademetz earlier rose to become one of the most influential European professional snowboarders and was also actively involved in the sport and its organisation off the slopes. He co-ordinated several major competitions and worked for the Austrian Snowboarding Association, the Professional Snowboarders Association, and the International Snowboarding Federation.

Freinademetz later became president of the New Austrian Snowboard Association and also concentrated on enduro motocross races. He organized adventure tours in Romania and became a construction manager by profession.
