Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS)

In 2001, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) set up a separate organization to ensure high quality broadcasts of the Olympic Games, named Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS). Its main duties include the operation of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in the Olympic host city, the operation of broadcast installations at the venues and, most importantly, to deliver the television footage to the national broadcasters who televise the Olympics.

On a related topic, in 2014 the IOC announced plans to start an Olympic Channel, which will broadcast Olympic sports worldwide. See Olympic Channel.
