Polo at the 1900 Summer Olympics

Dates 28 May – 9 July 1900
Medal Events 1
Non-medal Events 7

Polo was contested during the Paris International Exposition in 1900. Multiple tournaments were held and it has always been difficult to sort out which of the events should be considered the Olympic tournament, and in older sources, multiple teams and results are noted. All of the tournaments took place at the Polo Grounds of the Bagatelle de Paris team at the Bois de Boulogne. The various events contested in 1900 were as follows – 1) Grand Prix International d’Exposition (termed the Concours de Polo Hippique in the 1900 Official Report) – 28, 29, and 31 May (scheduled); 2) Prix de Longchamps – 30 May, 1 and 4 June; 3) Grand Prix International de Paris – 5, 7, and 9 June; and 4) Coupe de Bagatelle – 6, 8, and 11 June; 5) Grand Prix de l’Ouverture; 6) Grand Prix de Suresnes; 7) Cup Match; and 8) Grand Prix des Dames. The first event appears to have been the event which should be considered the Olympic competition.
