Set against the stunning backdrop of the Eiffel Tower at Place de la Concorde, the women’s street skateboarding final blended the historic with the modern, featuring a nostalgic ’80s and ’90s soundtrack and showcasing a new generation of talent, as teenage athletes delivered remarkable performances on the Olympic stage.

At just 14 years of age, Japan’s Coco Yoshizawa captured the gold medal with a total score of 272.75 points. Her performance was highlighted by a bigspin flip frontside boardslide, earning a remarkable score of 96.49 points - the highest single trick score of the competition. Yoshizawa’s victory continued Japan’s dominance in the event, following Momiji Nishiya’s gold at Tokyo 2020.

Also from Japan, 15-year-old Liz Akama secured the silver medal with a score of 265.95 points. She led early in the finals after impressive runs and tricks but was ultimately surpassed by her teammate Yoshizawa’s exceptional performance.

Brazil’s Rayssa Leal, the Tokyo 2020 silver medalist, finished with the bronze medal, with her score of 253.37 points. At 16, Leal became the youngest person to reach the Olympic podium in two different Games, surpassing a record held since 1932. Her final trick, a kickflip Smith grind, secured her place on the podium amidst a crowd filled with enthusiastic Brazilian fans.

Japan’s Funa Nakayama, the bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020, finished seventh after struggling to land her tricks.
