Canoeing was demonstrated at the Olympics for the only time in 1924, with all the events held at the unusual distance of 800 metres. Only canoeists from Canada and the United States competed in 1924, so it was hardly an international competition. Two boats started with the Canadian four winning the Canadian fours over a United States’ crew. Canadian fours has never been held at the Olympics as a full medal sport.
