Gaelic sports events, including Gaelic football, were held at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, alongside the 1904 Olympic Games. They have never been officially on an Olympic Programme and will not feature at the Olympics anytime soon.
Gaelic football is one of four sports controlled by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), the largest sporting organization in Ireland and highest governing body of the sport. The GAA was founded as the Gaelic Athletic Association for the Preservation and Cultivation of national Pastimes on 1 November 1884, in Thurles, Ireland.
