Nikola Dimitrov

After taking up the sport in his youth during World War II, Nikola Dimitrov joined the Levski Sofia football squad in 1924 and remained with them until his retirement in 1940. During that time, he won Bulgarian First League titles in 1933 and 1937, the Ulpia Serdika Cup four times (1926, 1930-1932), and the Sofia Championship five times (1924, 1925, 1929, 1933, and 1937). He also earned five international caps for Bulgaria. Following his retirement from active competition, he worked as a coach.

Football was not Dimitrov’s only talent, however, as he won numerous national championships in Nordic combined. He competed at two editions of the World Championships, in 1933 and the unofficial 1941 edition, and was also selected to represent his country in this event at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics, although he failed to start the event.
