Biography

Tadeusz Sachs represented Poland at the World Championships in 1930 and 1931. He was the Polish substitute goaltender at the 1932 Winter Games in Lake Placid and also acted as the team’s coach just like at the World Championships 1933, 1935 and 1937. At the World Championships between 1931 and 1939, he also refereed a total of 38 matches. Sachs had started playing hockey while attending a private school in Switzerland for Gstaad and Zürich. After he returned to Poland he wore the colors of various clubs including Legia Warszawa 1928-1932. During this time, he was twice runner-up in the Polish Championships (1927, 1928) twice third (1929, 1930) with his respective clubs. Sachs was killed in the Nazi Concentration Camp Auschwitz.
