Matthias Leis was an ice hockey goalkeeper and a substitute at the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympics. He earned eight international caps and competed at the 1927 and 1929 Europeans, winning a bronze medal in 1927. He started his career with MTV München 1879. With SC Riessersee Leis won a German Championship in 1927. He was later inducted into the German Hall of Fame for Ice Hockey.
