Biography

Nick Pearson was a speed skater who competed at the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best finishes were in 2002 when he placed sixth in both the 1,000 metres and 1,500 metres. Internationally he appeared at the World Sprint Championships in 2001, 2002-04, and 2008, placing 15th overall in 2003 as his top placing. He skated at the World Single Distance Championships in 2000-01, 2003, 2005, and 2008-09, never skating anything longer than the 1,500 metres. At that tournament he had a fifth-place finish in the 2003 1,000 metres. Pearson had a brief retirement after 2005 but came back to competition in 2008.

Pearson earned a degree from the University of Utah. He later worked for USA Speed Skating as their high-performance manager from 2011-14. From 2014-16 he was director of their long-track speed skating program. In 2017-18 he was the director of competition for the US Speed Skating Trials at Pettit Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He then took over program director at Midway Speed Skating Club in Roseville, Minnesota.
