Stefan, brother of Andreas Barucha, was a crew member of Christoph Langen’s four-man bob Germany 1 team at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. They abandoned the competition after the second run. In 2005, Barucha won a bronze medal at the European Championships, before retiring from the sport the following year. He had started his sports career as a track & field sprinter. By profession, Barucha became a history and sports schoolteacher at Potsdam.
