Biography

Robert Müller was a German ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the German national teams from 1997-2008, the junior team from 1997-2000. He played in two Olympic Winter Games (2002, 2006) and nine World Championships.

He played for various teams in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), starting out with Star Bulls Rosenheim, and then later playing for Adler Mannheim, Krefield Penguine, and Kölner Haie (Cologne Sharks). He played in the DEL All-Star Game four times.

Müller was drafted in 2001 by the NHL Washington Capitals, but never played in the NHL. He tragically was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2006, and underwent brain surgery in August 2008 in an effort to overcome the disease. In December 2008 he made a token return to the ice for Kölner Haie but died too young only a few months later.
