German race walker Melanie Seeger was a triple Olympian from Athens 2004 to London 2012. She finished fifth, 22nd and 16th over 20 kilometres, respectively. She also participated at five World Championships (2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2011) with a seventh place in 2001 as her best result. At Europeans she won a bronze medal in 2010.
Nationally, Seeger won the 20 km title from 2001-03, and the 5 km from 2001-04. She also won indoor titles in 2003-04, 2006-07. By profession, Seeger became a schoolteacher at a European school in Belgium.
