Biography

Chandra Crawford has been an athlete from an early age, competing in running, swimming, mountain biking , and biathlon prior to settling full-time on cross-country skiing at the age of 16. After being noticed at the World Junior Cross-Country Ski Championships, she quickly made a name for herself in the country as a member of the Canadian Junior, then Senior, Cross-Country Skiing Team. Her 2006 gold medal in the 1.1 km sprint was preceded by a host of athletic accolades at Canadian Championships and a bronze in the sprint event at the 2005-2006 World Cup. Following her Olympic achievement, Crawford obtained two gold medals in 2008 at World Cup sprint events and competed in the 2010 edition of the Games without receiving a medal. She is the founder of “Fast and Female”, an organization dedicated since 2005 to empowering girls through sport.
