Biography

Shirley Dery-Batlik competed at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, in K2 in 1984 and K4 both years. She won two gold medals in K2 and K4 at the 1987 Pan American Games. Dery-Batlik graduated from Adelphi University in 1985. She and her husband, Jirka Batlik, later helped run the Newport Aquatics Center canoe and kayak section.
