Biography

Frederic Bontecou was a state legislator in New York, serving in Albany from 1934-38 and 1942-47. He attended Brown University and served with the Rhode Island National Guard on the Mexican border in 1916 and then served in the Army with the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) in Europe during World War I. Bontecou raised Aberdeen Angus cattle and thoroughbred horses. In 1926 he became the first American to win the King George V Gold Cup.
