Biography

Manuel Mendívil competed at three Olympic Games, over a 16-year period, appearing in 1964, 1972, and 1980, highlighted by winning an Olympic bronze in the 1980 team eventing. He participated at the Pan American games in 1967, 1971, and 1975, winning medals each year. The highlight was his gold medal in individual eventing in 1971, also winning bronze medals in team eventing in 1975 and individual jumping in 1967. Mendívil was a career military officer who enrolled in military college at age 17.
