Biography

Unlike most other cavalry officers, Carl Høst Saunte did not come from a military family. After graduating in 1891, he joined the army and became a second lieutenant in 1894 and first lieutenant in 1895. In 1910, he reached the rank of cavalry captain. Saunte was appointed Knight of the Order of the Sword in Sweden. In 1898, he married Anna Jacobe Francisca Damkjer; they had a son and a daughter.

At the 1912 Olympics, Saunte, like the two other Danish riders, did not finish the eventing competition. With his horse Streg, he then placed 18th in the dressage.
