Biography

Agnete Kirk Thinggaard competed in dressage at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Through 2020 Thinggaard had made 103 starts in FEI recognized events with 7 wins, and a best World Cup finish of 9th at the 2016 World Cup final in Göteborg. She and her husband Claus Thinggaard run Julianelyst ApS in Ostbirk, Denmark. Her father also founded Blue Hors stud in Randboel, Denmark

Thinggaard may be the wealthiest Olympian of all-time with an estimated net worth of $8.7 billion (US) in 2021 per Forbes magazine. Her wealth came from the Lego Company, which makes plastic construction blocks for children. Agnete Kirk Thinggaard splits a 75% ownership stake in the toy company with her father, sister, and brother, and she is also a board member of the Lego Foundation. The family also has a 50% stake in theme park operator Merlin Entertainments, which it took private with a consortium in 2019.
