Biography

Peter Lombard was a native of Guam who attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, graduating in 1998 with a 4.0 GPA as valedictorian of his class. He was captain of the gymnastics team there, lettering four times, and earning first-team Academic All-American honors. Lombard then attended John Hopkins Medical School, eventually becoming an ophthalmologist. He started his own clinic, the Lombard Health Eye Clinic on Guam.

Lombard began cycling in 2001 to compete in triathlons and, after medical school, ramped up his training and began entering mountain bike events. Lombard won the 2016 Guam mountain bike championship, which helped him qualify for the Olympics, although he did not finish at Rio de Janeiro.
