Biography

Michele Granger was a left-handed pitcher who played in college at U Cal Berkeley, graduating in 1993. She first made the US National Team as a sophomore in high school, playing at the 1986 World Championships, and stayed on the team through the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She was dominant as a college player, pitching 25 career no-hitters in college, and 9 in her senior season, both long-standing NCAA records. She also threw 94 shut-outs in college, which, as of 2019, is second all-time in NCAA history.

With the US team, Granger won gold medals at the 1996 Olympics, and at the Pan American Games in 1987, 1991, and 1995. She also played on winning US teams at the 1994 World Championships and the 1995 Super Ball Classic. Granger played in the Amateur Softball Association with the Redding Rebels, and was voted Most Valuable Pitcher at the 1986-88 national championships.

Granger is a member of the California Golden Bears Hall of Fame, and the halls of fame of the Amateur Softball Association, and the International Softball Federation. She later coached at the University of Tennessee, but became a long-time high school softball coach.
