Biography

Cesare Facciani’s greatest success as a cyclist came at the 1928 Olympics. A member of the Italian pursuit team, he won a gold medal, despite finishing with only three cyclists in both the semi-finals and final. Facciani then tried to become a pro cyclists, but won only briefly employed by a team, otherwise racing independently. His best achievements were a 26th place in the Giro d’Italia (1933) and a stage win in the Tour of Piedmont. He was forced to retire in 1934 due to illness, to which he eventually succumbed in 1938.
