Biography

In his only Olympic appearance in 1992 at Barcelona German track cyclist Jens Glücklich came in an unfortunate fourth in the 1,000 metres time trial only 0.045 seconds behind American Erin Hartwell. In 1985 and 1989, he won gold medals in this event at the World Championships while representing East Germany, and in 1987 and 1991 he added silver medals and in 1986 and 1990 two more bronzes at the Worlds. Glücklich later became an entrepreneur and owned a tanning salon and a fashion boutique in his hometown of Cottbus.
