Biography

Cyclist Manfred Klieme was a member of the mixed German pursuit team that won the silver medal in Roma, this time with Bernd Barleben, Peter Gröning and Siegfried Köhler, a pure East German team. In 1955, 1959, 1961 and 1962 he claimed the East German national titles in this discipline, in 1962 he also claimed the Madison title together with Barleben.

Klieme trained radio mechanic and worked with the VEB Stern Radio in Berlin, which was closed in 1990 after German reunification. All 3,300 employees lost their jobs.
