Biography

Aleksey Petrov twice rode for the Soviet Union at the Olympics, riding the team time trial in 1960 and 1964, and the individual road race in 1964. He also competed three times in the team time trial at the World Championships, in 1962, 1964, and 1965, placing fourth, ninth, and seventh, respectively. Petrov competed in the Peace Race four times, in 1961-62 and 1965-66, placing fifth in 1962 and sixth in 1966 for his best finishes. Petrov was Soviet champion in the individual road race in 1962 and in the team time trial in 1960, 1962-64 and 1966.
