Biography

Josef Rieder finished 57th in the 315 km individual road race at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, which was held as an individual time trial. This helped Germany finish sixth in the team road race in 1912, although he was not among the top four German finishers. Germany had all 11 team members finish the race, the only nation to do so. Rieder was killed in action in the battle of Verdun in 1916 during World War I, while serving with the 4th Kompanie, Infanterie-Leib-Regiment.
