Biography

Anton Tkáč was a Slovak-born track cyclist who represented Czechoslovakia at the 1972 München (Munich), 1976 Montréal, and 1980 Moskva Olympics. He won the gold medal in the sprint event in 1976 and placed fourth four years later.

Tkáč started his sporting career as a track & field athlete but turned to cycling at the age of 17 years, and in 1978 he won the sprint at the World Championships. Tkáč later became a sports administrator in the Slovak Cycling Federation.
