Biography

East German cyclist Carsten Wolf was a member of the silver medal-winning 4,000 metres track pursuit team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In 1986 and 1987 he had won the national title with his home club SC Cottbus. Wolf also won the world title in 1989. After re-unification he mainly competed in road and six-day races.

In 1996 Wolf won a world bronze medal in the Madison with Andreas Kappes and in 1997 they also won the national title. In 1999 Wolf tested positive for doping, and this ended his career. A ban was no longer issued. In 2009, he emigrated to Mallorca leading the Canyon-Base within Robinson Club, Cala Serena, near Cala d’Or.
