Biography

Børge Krogh was born in Aalborg in 1942. He made his ring début at the age of 15, often on the same bill has his two brothers. In his first fight, he knocked out his opponent with his first punch of the match. As an amateur, he competed in 225 fights, mainly for AK Jyden. He became a regional champion in Jutland, a national champion and a Nordic champion. These results lead him to be selected for the 1960 Roma Olympics and the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but he lost in the first round both times.

In 1966, Krogh turned professional, winning the European Lightweight Championship with a victory over Maurice Tavant of France. However, he lost the title the following year, against Pedro Carrasco of Spain. He retired in 1971, with a professional record of 56 matches which resulted in 43 wins, 8 losses and 5 draws.

As well as boxing, Krogh trained as a teacher, which earned him the nickname of “the boxing professor”. From being a full-time teacher, he also went on to be a school inspector and later a headmaster.

In 2014, Krogh was inducted into the Danish Professional Boxing Hall of Fame.
