Biography

Walter Rutherford had a grain business but it left him lots of time for golf and other leisure activities. He was one of the best players in the Borders from 1894-1905, winning many Borders Golf Association events. After that he became somewhat a mystery to members of his club, Jedburgh Golf Club. It is said he either had significant business troubles or became an alcoholic, but he left the area, eventually dying in London.
