Biography

Francisco De Roig was a member of the Spanish hockey team that finished equal seventh at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Thirty-two years later, his son Pedro followed in his footsteps, and competed at the Roma Olympics but, unlike his father, he managed to collect a medal (bronze). Pedro, who was born during the Spanish Civil War, spent his entire career playing for his hometown club CD Terrassa, and won two Catalunya Championships, and two Copas del Generalísimo (now known as the King’s Cup). By profession, Roig worked in the textile industry.
